Equine Assisted Reading
Selah Farm Learning is partnering with Neighborly Stables, located in Tecumseh, MI, to offer engaging, horse-assisted reading experiences for preschool, elementary, and middle school students. Students connect with horses from the ground (not as riders) to enhance the lesson and help students improve key reading skills.
Pony Tales Story Time
Pony Tales offers an equestrian-themed story time in the barn with a horse! Horse activities and snacks are included. Preschool groups and early elementary groups include 4 - 6 students. The 30-minute sessions meet each week for 4 weeks.

Manes & Tales - Horse Powered Reading ®
Manes & Tales is an educational program that teaches reading strategies, enhances literacy, and helps children who may benefit from additional reading support develop the joy of reading in groups of 4 - 6 students entering grades 2 - 4. By harnessing horse-power to build decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills, we can help increase problem solving and develop positive character traits. The one-hour sessions meet each week for 4 weeks.

The Dark Horse Book Club
The Dark Horse Book Club combines horses with reading to strengthen comprehension skills and help develop positive character traits. Themes include trust, responsibility, communication, leadership, patience, and forgiveness. The learning sessions use a guided discussion format while participating in horse-powered experiences to read and explore an equestrian-themed middle school novel. Groups of 4 - 6 students entering either grade 5 and 6 or entering grades 7 and 8 meet weekly for 4 weeks for each 90-minute session.
